Social Action

Minyan Shaleym is involved in a number of social action programs to benefit our local Jewish community and the community at large. Some of our efforts have been longstanding, such as our participation in Family Table (a program to provide food to local Jewish families) and Project Ezra (an annual volunteer day held on Christmas).

We have also volunteered for such organizations as Habitat for Humanity and Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic and have helped with a number of local park cleanups. We are continuing with these projects as well as some new ones such as the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization. We believe that the best way to help make things better is to roll up our sleeves and get to work!

Books for Hanukkah

Through Family Table we buy and distribute gifts to children for Chanukah. Members who wish to donate are linked with a particular child for whom they buy and wrap an appropriate gift; the children are anonymous except for age and sex.

We have also participated in Reach Out and Read. Read their letter of appreciation to the Minyan.

The Yad Chessed Fund

Know someone in financial need? Would you like to help those in financial distress? Minyan Shaleym encourages our community to learn about and assist the Yad Chessed Charity Fund.

The Greater Boston Eruv

The Greater Boston Eruv Corporation maintains the eruv encompassing Brookline and surrounding towns. Minyan Shaleym supports the Eruv, but we also encourage individuals and families to join as well. The Eruv is supported solely by community donations.
